- Views of the posting of the movie: more than 4.500 yesterday and today already more than 1.800
- Incoming links: + 100
- Comments on the posting: 57
- Comments on the site: 20
- Tone of voice: very good (only a few negative comments)
Summary: Philippe summarized the results best:
Indeed, the reactions I received follow the pattern:
- Wow! Brilliant!
- … Microsoft?
- I’m gonna watch you (Microsoft) closely. You’d better respect your promise
- Good luck

Next Steps? We still have a lot of work to do. I think we managed to get the conversation started, now we need to follow up, make it true and deliver on our promises.

Funny, but the branding isn’t strong.
2. General Pattern | May 18, 2007 at 12:32 pm
C,
I don’t think it’s about branding. It’s really about conversation and provoking advertisers a little.

That video was brilliant. Perhaps the next video could feature “Advertiser’s” mistress / whore “Ad Agency”, who is a gold digger.
“Ad Agency” simply works to get money out of the client “Advertiser’s” pocket while winning creative awards for herself without caring one bit whether the Advertiser actually communicates anything to the Consumer.
“Ad Agency” only has one concern: winning creative awards so she can win new clients and make more money for herself. Who cares if her stupid super creative approach flies over the head of the consumer, as long as the internal “Advertising Award Show” guy digs it.
This concept has legs. Run with it.

Hi Clutch, I’ll try to run with it
6. MarkusBrutus | May 18, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Great stuff. Clutch is on to something. Maybe “Consumer”, now back out on the market, will be wooed by “Free Publication”, yet longing to be with “Advertiser”, until “Advertiser” learns the error of his ways.

Just FYI – Showed this to a friend of mine who is a marketing consultant/professor besides having several companies on his own. He thought this is one of the best if not THE best commercial he has ever seen!
And that’s HUGE coming from him….

That’s too much praise for me

Microsoft’s new campaign should be a campaign of the WAA
This should be a Webanalytics Association (WAA) and not a Microsoft campaign:

Bring the Love Back
Marketers are having a heck of a time trying to transition from push to pull. A lot of attempts at relationship marketing consist of changing the headline for who/what role they think I am. The body of the message is the same for everyone. In what sens…

This video is a must see for anyone involved in marketing – at any level. Thanks for posting it. I just added it to my blog.

13. See How Interruption Mark&hellip | May 18, 2007 at 6:46 pm
[...] Bring the Love Back reports that in the first 40 hours this video got 14,000 views. It makes such a powerful statement. It was inspired by David’s article in Newsweek, It’s the Conversation Economy, Stupid. I think this is a great example of how interruption marketing is loosing its grip. Think about it, we’re interrupted every day with tons of messages trying to get our attention around their product or service. But people are really being turned off. Consumers want more control. This is one reason the blogosphere has grown so quickly. I’m hopeful that more marketers are beginning to see that it’s the relationship, the conversation, that people want. Not just the product and all it promises. What marketers need to do is flip the funnel. Think of their clients and customers as people and develop relationships with them beyond just cash transactions. [...]

Smartly done.

Holics, at the very begining of the project, this was a pure Belgian local initiative but it rapidly seemed that the message of this clip was valid in every country.
Where does this wanna go? We’ll, read your comments and listen first to all this valuable feedback. I think that’s the whole point of conversation. When you start a conversation, you don’t really know where this will lead and that’s the beauty of it
16. Jamie Attwood | May 18, 2007 at 9:51 pm
I thought it was good, and it’s a good point.
But I just don’t feel the message coming on very stronly. It seems conservative and maybe underdone to me.
On the other hand, there’s NO chance I could do anything nearly as good, so perhaps I should ease off on the criticism.
Maybe it’s just me. But it seems like something we’ve been talking about for a while now already.
Very good work, nonetheless!

It’s nice being Microsoft. We couldn’t verify that you have 100 incoming links on Live.com. Want to talk to your customers about *that* ?
22. Et Tu | May 22, 2007 at 6:47 am
It’s a great ad, in that like all great ads, it connects with the consumer through genuine insight and delivers this in an engaging and rewarding way.
Question is that if MicroSoft really believes all this, is it safe to assume that they’ll be pulling all of their traditional media. Thought not.
23. Geert | May 22, 2007 at 11:00 am
Hi Et Tu, good point. But I still think all media can be complimentary… it is just the way they are used.
24. Geert | May 22, 2007 at 11:01 am
Hi Chui, I saw that as well… shows we still have a lot of work to do in that area.
